Strange

I am completely weired out that someone was knocking on our front door at 3:45am. Cleo woke us up to a strangely gentle knocking on the front door. It was hard enough to hear but didn’t sound panicked or rushed or stressed or whatever. It was like a Morman would knock during the daylight hours. I tried to look out my bedroom window but the condensation made it difficult to see. At the time all I could think was “I wish I had a gun” and of course I realize that is a difficult thing for me to admit.

I realize that this could have been completely non-threatening but for the life of me I cannot understand who would do that. The knocker was travelling in a minivan but I didn’t have a good view of the vechile. I am completely baffled. No one I can think of would do that… someone I know would at least call me… and if it was an emergency they would have been screaming our names… this is just so strange. I wish I had called the cops last night. Next time I will.

Happy Halloween

On Sunday Eric and I helped Kathy move into her new apartment. My legs still hurt. On the way from her old house to her new apartment Eric and I stopped off to fill up his gas tank. Just after pulling into the gas station we saw a wicked car accident. It was insane and shook me to the core. Instantly Eric ran out of the truck and went to check on the people in the cars. I called 911 right away and the few minutes it took for help to arrive felt like forever. The people in the two cars seemed to be alright… It was quite an eventful Sunday.

Kitty Litter Cake 2005

Scooper! 2005

INGREDIENTS:
2 pkgs white cake mix
1 Carton of Vanilla Snack Pack!
1 (12oz) pkg vanilla sandwich cookies
3-5 drops green food coloring
1 (12oz) package tootsie rolls

DIRECTIONS:
1. Prepare cake mixes and bake according to package directions
2. Open pudding packs.
3. Crumble sandwich cookies in zip lock baggie with fist. Set aside all but 1/4 cup. To the 1/4 cup add a few drops of green food coloring and mix.
4. When cakes are cooled to room temperature, crumble them into a large bowl. Toss with 1/2 of the remaining cookie crumbs, and the chilled pudding. You probably won’t need all of the pudding, you want the cake to be just moist, not soggy.
5. Line kitty litter box with the kitty litter liner. Put cake mixture into box.
6. Put half of the unwrapped tootsie rolls in a microwave safe dish and heat until softened. Shape the ends so that they are no longer blunt, and curve the tootsie rolls slightly. Bury tootsie rolls randomly in the cake and sprinkle with half of the remaining cookie crumbs. Sprinkle a small amount of the green colored cookie crumbs lightly over the top.
7. Heat the tootsie rolls and use your imagination to shape in yucky poo fashion. Serve with the pooper scooper for a gross Halloween dessert.

We went to a gourmet restruant in Halibut Cove, saw a glacier, and played sloshball! It was an excellent trip even though 8 20-somethings were stuck in a house with only 3 bedrooms.

Peas!

Gimmmme peas!!!

She is such an angel and I just want to squeeze her face off. And yes, I do realize I sound like one of those crazy aunts that pinches cheecks and demands red lipsick colored kisses. Just keep in mind that I don’t wear lipstick!

Adelina & Eric in Alaska

Adelina and Eric in Homer, Alaska
Originally uploaded by Adelina.

We totally rock. I can say that my life has completely changed and I am an utterly silly happy lady again. I have a new job that makes me happy even on the worst day I still feel like I am on vacation. I see live music every other day… I have a flatscreen monitor. I don’t get shot for going online. I get fed when I work a show.

Eric and I got hitched in Hawaii in April and went to a wedding in Alaska in August. This has been one hell of a I saw Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull and will be going to see Matisyahu in December. Who could ask for a job with better benefits? Free music!

Beer!

Yesterday, Kathy drove Mo, me, and Julie to Red Hook to pick up some yeast to brew our first batch of Irish Shout. The brewing was Kathy’s excellent idea. The store was awesomely wonderful. The woman there was extremely helpful and even gave us a discount because of the distance! Eric really got into the brewing process and ended up reading the instructions more throughly than Kathy or I did. Before leaving Red Hook we were sure to stop at Taste Budds to pick up some tastey treats.

What happened to June?

Let's recap: Mary graduated high school and is currently on an awesome road trip. Unfortunately, she won't call any of my friends who live outside of New York, not that I blame her, it is a strange situation. I got a promotion at work, yet I still need to find a job that will actually pay all of my bills... I have no idea how, er correction: the only way I am still above water is my credit card which at the same time is what is pulling me under... Catch 22... stuck in shitty circle, yada yada.

This summer seems like it will be great. Eric and I are headed to a show this afternoon. We have a firework bbq that isn't going to happen and we don't know about. We have two great weddings to go to, one in August. We are going to Alaska for a wedding in September. I finally finished college and need to start growing up.

A chilly Tuesday morning.

I've been excitedly busy recently. Had a job offer that was quite sweet. Told my boss of aforementioned offer. Sweet job offer revoked. Sour job offer provided minutes later to work at home. Loosing my freaking mind about what to do with my life. I know I have potential... just don't know what to do. Indecision is killing me. Doot doot doot doot doo... (like the song, get it? gah, I suck.)

The job I currently hold has such potential to be wonderful but as 'they' say "shit rolls downhill..." I wish someone could realize that if they pick up the shit, say "hey shit, your outta here!", and throw it out a bunch of hard-working people could be spared. Oh yea, and the pay could be a bit more...

I haven't had a vacation in a while. Didn't even take off a day for Christmas. It's nice to be on my own computer getting attack by Cleo who wants all of my attention.

Grrr!

Stop sign at the end of my street

Baby Maureen.

From a friend of mine:

For the past few days I have been trying to find something really inspirational to write for you. I couldnt come up with anything. But I do have to say this one last time.."What are you, fuckin crazy?"

Now in all seriousness, I wish you nothing but the best.

Enough wisdom to know what battles are worth fighting
Enough conversation to last a life time
Enough comfort to just sit in the silence
Enough money to have all that you need (and a little of what you want)
Enough time to walk in the mountains
Enough laughter to fill everyday

Rainy Saturday

Alright. Last night we had an appointment to talk about wedding cakes at Adams Fairacre Farms. Yep, we had an appointment. Wedding cakes... No samples. No samples of cake. No samples of filling. Um..? Am I supposed to guess about your blitzcherrybop flavor?! Why make an appointment?! I could have told you what cake I wanted when I made the appointment. If I remember correctly, the chick mentioned sampling cakes. Maybe that is just what I wanted to hear... Maybe it was just what my mom wanted to hear to...

The line up has occured.

Happy Guinness Day!

Eric and I went to the bar we frequent on St. Patty's Day. He ordered a Guinness for each of us. The man who knows us handed us two plastic "Bud Light" cups filled with Guinness. $4. What?! Those damn cups were not even full pint glasses.

Eh, well screw him because that is all the money we spent in the bar that night. Some how both Eric and I were crocked when we left at 7:30pm. He had only spent $9 for the crappy Guinness cups and I only spent $1 to hear ZZ Top and U2 on the juke box. It was an almost magical St' Patrick's Day... nice $2 glasses of Killian's showed up in my hand all afternoon.

Taxes!

I love getting my tax refund check. I feel almost human, not having to worry about where Eric will get money to shlep down to Jersey everyday. It is a beautiful 60 degrees in the sun right now and its only 8am - what a wonderful day. I am out!

Cleo!

Cleo is a little butthead. This morning she runs for the neighbor taking out the garbage down the street. Then Noah and Cleo run for the other neighbor walking down the hill. All of this chaos happens around 6:20am, before the sun is even smiling down. Speaking of sun, what a fucking beautiful day.

I am going to cash in my Amex rewards points (all 13,000 of 'em) for some concert tickets. One thing that Eric and I both love to do is hit up the occasional concert. Hell, what am I talking about? If we could make a living doing it, we would. The Vibes website is showing some signs of life. GAh! I cannot wait!!

Carnations!

Eric surprized me with a carnation. We are really low on cash... damn heating oil bill. We keep it a chilly 66 63 in the house and still owe $400 for heat... I was not expecting a damn thing given the fact that he has to eat peanutbutter & jelly for lunch each day. He works hard and should have something more filling.

I think Cleo is getting used to me dancing around the house like a fool. Instead of biting my feet, she caught me. I nearly spun into the wall. She was right there for me to lean on... I love her so much.

I can smell my spice cake. I whipped up some cream cheese frosting. mmmm... frosting... I need to tackle the hole loosing weight thing in a different way...

Skunker

Noah got sprayed by a skunk yesterday. Eric lost a day of work and rent is due. We are so fucked. At least I can't smell the skunk anymore. That doesn't mean the stink is gone, I have just become accustomed to the smell. Nice.

Random Thoughts

August 17-20 The F@#$!@ing Vibes. A co-worker, Helen, yelled at me today when I was leaving the office "you better put your coat on." When I dance around my house Cleo tries to bite my feet. Alright January is gone. What the hell? Where does the time go? "I was tought a month ago, to bid my time and take is slow. But then I learned just yesterday to rush and never waste the day..." Just realized that I have not saved any Phish to this computer since I reformatted. Last night I nearly peed myself when Eric asked me "does it have wachim phenis?!" He did not say pheonix as he meant to but it came out phenis. hehe. phenis. I need to find a new job. I need to move to a new town. I need to focus on the future instead of right now. But what is wrong with right now? Cleo, biting feet right now...

A Fresh Year.

Shit. I had a rancid assed head cold. I have never experienced that before. Normally when I am sick the gunk is in my head, nose, and lungs. It all started Friday the 13th. Woke up shivering. Vomited for a half an hour. Well this time I got the pleasure of having clean lungs. Unfortunately my eyes, ears, head, and nose were hit with the gunk. My eyes were red for three days. I still cannot hear out of my left ear. My mother urged me to go to the doctor sans insurance. What did the lovely doctor tell me? "You have a cold. Drink tea." The doctor is of course a lovely woman who will be sending me a bill for at least $50. Wonderful.

Last Saturday, the 14th it rained all day. I spend my time in bed crying like a baby as I do whenever I get sick. Luckily we have a few nice neighbors, one of which called us at 2:30am to let us know it is snowing and there is a tow truck outside our house. I run out in a bathrobe and boots. Eric grabs sneakers and a coat. We each had $75 tickets tied ever-so-sweetly to our windsheild wipers. (Please note is a minium fine of 75 bucks.)

It has been one hell of a year so far. I am getting completely paranoid and snowcrazed. I think my friend Jen doesn't like me because she has only asked for my help once with her new shop. Yes, I know that sounds silly. Eh. Stop thinking about it. I tend to make shit up in my head sometimes. Almost thought Jesi was against me too. I think it has a lot to do with the winter. I called Keith thursday and the conversation felt akward but he could have been busy...

Yes, I have to admit that today was extremely beautiful... not much sun, but very warm. Sweater weather. Ahh...

Thunder King

Loud fire works = cops at your back door. Gotta love small towns with crazy neighbors. Four different people called in to the police station to report a gun shot. So if I get killed the cops will show up to yell at me...

I spent most of yesterday with my puppy, Cleo. Yes, I realize she is a year and a half old and larger than most dogs but to me she is still a puppy. We had a little incident with the nail cutters and it was difficult to get the bleeding to stop. But I was able to sleep okay knowing I did get it under control. Letting her out is going to prove to be a pain in the ass. The snow just reopens the injury.
